The second promotional video for the Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You anime has been released, offering a preview of the opening theme song and confirming a July 9 television debut in Japan. The track, titled "Ichijiku Kemuri" (Fig Smoke), is performed by the popular rock band ZUTOMAYO.

The anime will begin airing on TBS and its 27 affiliated channels at 11:56 p.m. JST on July 9. Alongside its broadcast, the series will be available via streaming on ABEMA and Netflix in Japan. International viewers can catch the anime on Crunchyroll in North America, Central and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India.

Directed by Tadato Suzuki and Aoi Mori at Asahi Production, the series features Takuya Satō as Sasaki and Seena Hoshiki as Yamada/Tayama. The cast also includes Shinya Takahashi as Suzuki, Toa Yukinari as Gotō, Megumi Toyoguchi as Ōno, Rikuya Yasuda as Obata, and Yōko Hikasa as Maezawa. Shin Kōno and Sayaka Aoki are composing the music, with imase performing the ending theme "Fiction."

The story follows Sasaki, a weary office worker whose only solace comes from brief encounters with Yamada, a cheerful cashier at a local supermarket. Their paths cross more meaningfully when Tayama invites Sasaki to a secret smoking spot. The manga, launched by Jinushi in March 2022, also serialized in Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine and received an English release starting in February 2024. It was recognized with an eighth-place ranking in the 2023 Manga Taisho awards.
