Four new voice actors have joined the cast of the upcoming anime adaptation of Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You. Revealed alongside a new key visual, the additions include Toa Yukinari as Gotō, Megumi Toyoguchi as Ōno, Rikuya Yasuda as Obata, and Yōko Hikasa as Maezawa. The anime is set to begin its limited advance streaming on ABEMA in Japan on June 3.
The series officially premieres on TBS and 27 other Japanese networks in July, airing weekly on Thursdays. Takuya Satō stars as Sasaki, an overworked office worker who finds solace in smoking, and Seena Hoshiki voices Yamada/Tayama, the mysterious girl who introduces him to a secret smoking spot. Shinya Takahashi is also part of the main cast as Suzuki.
Internationally, Crunchyroll will stream Smoking Behind the Supermarket with You across North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, CIS, and India. The manga, written by Jinushi, launched on X/Twitter in March 2022 and began serialization in Square Enix's Big Gangan magazine in August 2022. It received an English release through Manga UP! Global and Comikey starting in 2023 and was recognized with an 8th place ranking in the 2023 Manga Taisho awards.
