Shueisha has officially entered the global digital market with Manga Million, a massive new platform designed to bridge language gaps for readers worldwide. Launching with an impressive catalog of 400 titles and one million translated pages, the service supports over 100 languages, including English, French, Spanish, Chinese, Arabic, and Hindi. The company emphasized that this project relies entirely on human translation provided by international licensing partners, explicitly steering clear of AI-assisted localization.
The library spans a diverse range of genres, with 150 titles dedicated specifically to shojo manga. Users can access heavy hitters like One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Jujutsu Kaisen, Oshi no Ko, and Spy x Family, as well as classics like NANA and Kimi ni Todoke - From Me to You. This initiative serves as a significant expansion beyond Shueisha's existing MANGA Plus service, which primarily focuses on shonen-oriented content from Weekly Shonen Jump and related publications.
Spearheaded by Shuhei Hosono, the Editor-in-Chief of MANGA Plus, the project was conceived as a celebration of Shueisha’s 100th anniversary. The platform is currently free to use without registration, though the company has not yet finalized a timeline for how long this promotional period will last. By providing localized access to such a vast library, Shueisha aims to remove the barriers that have historically limited the international reach of its catalog.
