The culinary world is bracing for a return to the kitchen as the official website for Shin Oishinbo (New Oishinbo) released its first teaser trailer this week. The project, which adapts the long-running manga by Tetsu Kariya and Akira Hanasaki, is slated for a 2027 television broadcast. The footage highlights the return of the iconic rivalry between the 'Ultimate Menu' and the 'Supreme Menu,' marking the first time the series has graced the small screen in over three decades.

The production features a fresh lineup of voice talent, with Yōhei Azakami stepping into the role of Shirō Yamaoka, Hitomi Sasaki as Yūko Kurita, and Akio Ōtsuka voicing the formidable Yūzan Kaibara. Behind the scenes, Ken'ichi Nishida—known for his work on Good Bye, Dragon Life—is directing the series. The production is a collaborative effort between Synergy SP and Vega Entertainment, with Shinei Animation overseeing the project. Takahiro Nagano is handling series composition, while character designs are being managed by Nozomi Kawashige.

This new series follows the original 1988–1992 anime adaptation, which ran for 136 episodes and solidified the franchise's status as a cornerstone of the food-anime genre. While the original manga has been on hiatus since 2014, its influence remains significant, with Viz Media having previously released select volumes in English.

Given that the original anime concluded over 30 years ago, it remains to be seen how the production team will balance the series' classic roots with modern animation standards. With a 2027 release date confirmed, viewers have plenty of time to revisit the original series or catch up on the manga's extensive history.
