Kadokawa has announced that the anime film SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table 44: CLOUDY BEACH will be available worldwide beginning July 13. The film will stream on Netflix across North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and the Middle East. Viewers in the Indian subcontinent and CIS can find it on Crunchyroll, with Amediateka also offering it in the CIS region. Additional regional streaming services include Aniplus and Laftel in Korea, Bahamut Animation Madness in Hong Kong, Transvision and catchplay in Indonesia, catchplay in Singapore, True Visions and bilibili in Thailand, and a variety of platforms in Taiwan such as Twitch, MOD&Hami Video, My-Video, FriDay, LiTV&Ofiii, LineTV, and Renta!.
The film picks up after the events of the TV series, with protagonist Yuuki entering a new death game titled "Cloudy Beach." This time, the game takes place on a remote island and features seven other players, including someone Yuuki knows. The story follows the high-stakes premise of the light novel series, where participants play deadly games to survive and earn prize money.
The voice cast includes Aino Shimada as Maguma, Anna Nagase as Essei, Hikaru Tōno as Mozuku, Konomi Inagaki as Hizumi, Riko Akechi as Mitsuba, Yukari Tamura as Koyomi, and Yume Miyamoto as Airi. The production sees returning staff from the TV anime, with Sōta Ueno directing at Studio DEEN. Rintarou Ikeda is handling series composition, Eri Osada is the character designer, and Noriyoshi Konuma is the sound director.
Prior to its global streaming debut, SHIBOYUGI: CLOUDY BEACH had a limited two-week theatrical run in Japan, commencing on July 10. The original light novel series by Yūshi Ukai and Nekometal was lauded, ranking #1 in the New Title category of Takarajimasha's 2024 Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! rankings and winning an Excellence Award at the 18th MF Bunko J Light Novel Newcomer Award. The TV anime adaptation, which aired earlier this year, was streamed by Crunchyroll and Netflix.
