Sega has officially expanded its international infrastructure by establishing a new subsidiary based in Shanghai, China. The move, which took effect on June 12, is designed to bolster the company’s presence in one of the world's most significant entertainment hubs.
By creating a dedicated local entity, the company intends to streamline the promotion of its extensive library of intellectual properties, including iconic franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog, Like a Dragon, and Virtua Fighter. The subsidiary will serve as a hub for local marketing activities, allowing the publisher to better navigate regional market trends and forge stronger strategic partnerships.
This development follows the company's recent push into the Chinese retail space, marked by the launch of the world’s first official Sega Store in Shanghai in May 2025. With this new office, the firm is signaling a long-term commitment to deepening its engagement with Chinese consumers and optimizing its business operations across the region.
