Sega has officially announced Crazy Taxi: World Tour, a brand-new entry in its iconic arcade racing franchise. The reveal took place during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026 livestream, confirming a 2027 release window.
The game is slated to launch simultaneously on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Microsoft Store. Sega's Steam page for the title noted that generative AI was employed as a support tool during development, allowing creators to focus more on creative tasks. However, the company stressed that AI was not utilized in relation to the game's performers.
The Crazy Taxi series first hit arcades in February 1999, with a Sega Dreamcast port following in January 2000. Over the years, the franchise has seen several sequels and ports, including Crazy Taxi: Catch a Ride for Game Boy Advance and Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars for PlayStation Portable. More recent mobile entries included the free-to-play Crazy Taxi City Rush in 2014 and the spin-off Crazy Taxi Tycoon in 2017, though the latter was delisted in 2020.
