Following the conclusion of their 20th-anniversary concert last Friday, the influential rock band SCANDAL has announced that the group will cease all activities on August 21, 2027. Members Haruna, Mami, Tomomi, and Rina stated that they have reached a point where they feel they have accomplished everything they set out to achieve collectively, both in Japan and throughout their international tours.
To mark their final chapter, the band is launching a comprehensive tour covering all 47 of Japan's prefectures beginning this October. The group's tenure will culminate in a final solo concert at the Yokohama Arena on the date of their dissolution, exactly 21 years after their formation.
Anime fans will remember the band for their extensive contributions to the medium, including iconic tracks for Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Star Driver. Their reach extended to films and shorts as well, providing music for Pokémon the Movie: Diancie and the Cocoon of Destruction and the original production XPICE. Beyond their studio work, the quartet built a significant global following with tours across the United States, Europe, and Asia, cementing their status as a staple of the J-rock scene.
