Mangaka Sankaku Head has confirmed his return to the world of his most famous creation, announcing a new series titled Umaru-chan 100. The project is set to debut on Shueisha's digital platform, Young Jump+, on October 1. This announcement follows the author's earlier declaration that he would be stepping away from the rigorous demands of weekly serialization to prioritize his health and family life, marking a transition to a monthly release pace.

The original Himouto! Umaru-chan manga enjoyed a successful run in Weekly Young Jump from 2013 to 2017, spawning several spin-offs including Akita Imokko! Ebina-chan and Himōto! Umaru-chan G. The franchise's popularity led to two television anime seasons, with the first airing in 2015 and the sequel, Himouto! Umaru-chan R, following in 2017. While the anime was previously available on platforms like Crunchyroll and the now-defunct Anime Strike, the manga continues to reach international readers through Seven Seas Entertainment.

Why it matters: The shift to a monthly schedule for this new project suggests a long-term approach to the franchise, though it remains to be seen how the narrative scope of Umaru-chan 100 will compare to the original series' weekly format. With the author also currently working on My Darling Devilish Daughter, which is slated to conclude in 2027, the move to a more sustainable production pace appears to be a permanent change for his career.
