The electronic music group sakanaction has earned the top honor of Song of the Year at the Music Awards Japan 2026 for their track "Kaiju." The song, featured on their album "Orb: On the Movements of the Earth," also secured wins for Best Rock Song and Best Anime Song, highlighting its broad appeal. Sakanaction themselves were recognized as Best Rock Band/Solo Artist.
The Grand Ceremony, hosted by the Japan Culture and Entertainment Industry Promotion Association (CEIPA), also saw Mrs. Green Apple take home the Artist of the Year award for the second consecutive year. Kenshi Yonezu's "IRIS OUT," from the soundtrack of Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, was awarded Best J-POP Song, alongside multiple international category wins for Yonezu's work.
This year's Music Awards Japan, the event's second, featured over 70 award categories and saw winners selected by more than 5,000 music industry professionals. The ceremony included performances from a range of artists including Mrs. Green Apple, LiSA, and Yonezu, underscoring the diverse talent celebrated.
