After a prolific 21-year career, the renowned all-female rock band SCANDAL has announced plans to disband. The group, consisting of Haruna, Mami, Tomomi, and Rina, confirmed their final performance will take place on August 21, 2027, at the Yokohama Arena. This date holds symbolic weight, marking exactly 21 years since the band’s formation.
In a statement regarding the decision, the members shared that following their 20th anniversary, they engaged in extensive internal discussions. They reached a consensus that they had fulfilled their collective potential as a four-piece unit. To celebrate their legacy before the final curtain call, the band will launch a comprehensive tour spanning all 47 of Japan's prefectures starting this October.
Formed in Osaka in 2006, the band rose from local indie performances to major label success with their 2008 debut single, "DOLL." Their impact on the anime industry has been profound, with tracks featured in major titles such as Bleach, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and Star Driver: Kagayaki no Takuto. In 2023, their longevity was officially recognized by Guinness World Records, cementing their status as the longest-running rock group to maintain the same female membership.
