The four-piece rock band cinema staff has announced that they will disband on September 12, 2027. The decision follows a series of discussions between the band members and their management team. Their final performance is set to take place at Toyosu PIT in Tokyo, marking the end of a 21-year career that began when the founding members were high school classmates in Gifu Prefecture.
Before the final concert, the group will wrap up their regular activities following an appearance at LIQUIDROOM on December 17. Additionally, the band confirmed that their long-running annual music festival, 'OOPARTS,' which has been held in Gifu since 2013, will host its final event in 2026. Plans for a 2027 iteration of the festival have been canceled.
Formed in 2003 and making their major debut in 2012, the band became a staple in the anime music scene. They are perhaps best recognized for their contributions to the Attack on Titan franchise, including themes for the original series, the third season's second cour, and the No Regrets OVA. They also provided music for Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V.
Why it matters: The band's departure marks the end of a significant era for fans of their specific brand of alternative rock in anime. With the festival ending a year before the band's final show, it remains to be seen how they will structure their remaining releases leading up to the September 2027 conclusion.
