The manga adaptation of Mikiri Kara Hajimeru Garyū Kenjutsu (Self-Taught Swordsmanship That Begins With Giving Up), illustrated by Riddle Kamimura, has officially concluded. The series wrapped up its run on the Mag Comi website last Friday with the publication of its 26th chapter.

Based on the light novel series by Hisumi, the story follows a character named Rio living in a dangerous border town. After finding the local swordsmanship training inadequate, Rio resolves to forge his own path by teaching himself the blade to ensure his survival. The manga version began its serialization in June 2023, with Mag Garden overseeing the release of four compiled book volumes, the most recent of which debuted in October 2025.

While this adaptation has reached its end, the source material remains a notable work from Hisumi, who originally serialized the story on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website between 2021 and 2022. Kadokawa currently publishes the print edition of the novels, which feature illustrations by Nemusuke. Kamimura, known for previous works such as Ex-Yakuza and Stray Kitten, has successfully brought this fantasy premise to a close, marking the end of a two-year run for the project.
