RetroCrush has updated its streaming lineup for August, headlined by the addition of the classic The Guyver: Bio-Booster Armor OVA and the live-action film adaptation of Dororo. The 1989-1992 OVA series, based on Yoshiki Takaya’s long-running manga, is currently available in its English-dubbed format. Meanwhile, the 2007 live-action take on Osamu Tezuka’s supernatural historical epic is streaming with its original Japanese audio.

These titles join a broader expansion of RetroCrush’s library, which leans heavily into cult-classic Japanese cinema and television. Other recent additions include the Lone Wolf and Cub television series, the horror film Gonjam: Haunted Asylum, and Shogun's Mission. Subscribers can also look forward to the arrival of Lethal Three: Sanbiki ga Kiru! on August 28.

This update highlights the enduring legacy of both source materials. While the Guyver franchise has seen multiple incarnations—including a 2005 television anime and two live-action films—the 1989 OVA remains a hallmark of late 80s sci-fi animation. Similarly, Dororo continues to see modern reinterpretations, ranging from the 2019 television anime adaptation licensed by Sentai Filmworks to Satoshi Shiki’s recent manga remake, The Legend of Dororo and Hyakkimaru, which concluded its 13-volume run last December.
