The television anime adaptation of Chie Shinohara's Red River manga has released a full promotional video. The newly streamed video offers a preview of the anime's opening theme, titled "Akatsuki no Sora" (Dawn Sky), performed by Hiroki Nanami.
The series follows Yuri, a Japanese high school student who is inexplicably transported to the ancient Hittite Empire. There, she becomes entangled in political intrigue and must navigate a dangerous new world.
The anime is directed by Kōsuke Kobayashi (Waccha PriMagi!, Alice or Alice) at Tatsunoko Production, with Yoriko Tomita handling series scripts and Kenji Fujisaki on character designs. The cast includes Mirai Tachibana as Yuri and Wataru Katō as Kail Muršili. The anime is set to premiere on July 7 in NTV's "AnichU" programming block, followed by a broadcast on BS NTV on July 8.
Viz Media has been releasing the Red River manga in English, completing its initial 28-volume run between 2004 and 2010. The publisher began a new omnibus re-release in October 2024. The original manga by Chie Shinohara was serialized in Shogakukan's Shōjo Comic magazine from 1995 to 2002.
