Red River (Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori) is shaking up its production for the upcoming second cour, with the official website confirming a new cast addition and a refreshed musical lineup. Veteran voice actress Nana Mizuki is set to join the ensemble as Ursula, a character described as a false goddess masquerading as Ishtar.
Alongside the casting news, the production revealed the new theme songs that will accompany the series' next phase. Mizuki will also provide the new opening theme, titled "Akatsuki no Hoshi" (Morning Star), while the band Ryu Matsuyama will handle the ending theme, "flow feat. Yūko Andō."
Directed by Kōsuke Kobayashi at Tatsunoko Production, the adaptation of Chie Shinohara’s classic shōjo manga has been airing in Japan since July. International viewers can continue to follow the series via Crunchyroll, which streams the episodes as they are released in Japan.
With the introduction of Ursula, the narrative stakes in the Hittite Empire are poised to shift. Given that the series draws heavily on historical research from the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology, it remains to be seen how this new character’s deception will weave into the established political tensions between Prince Kail and his rivals.
