The production team for the Red River (Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori) anime has released a fresh promotional video and key visual, signaling the start of the series' second part. The trailer offers a preview of the new opening theme, 'Akatsuki no Hoshi' by Nana Mizuki, who is also joining the ensemble cast as the character Ursula. The ending theme for this upcoming arc will be 'flow feat. Yūko Andō,' performed by Ryu Matsuyama.

Directed by Kōsuke Kobayashi at Tatsunoko Production, the series adapts Chie Shinohara’s long-running historical fantasy manga. The production maintains a focus on historical accuracy, retaining Kimiyoshi Matsumura and Daisuke Yoshida from the Japanese Institute of Anatolian Archaeology as historical researchers. The core staff includes series script supervisor Yoriko Tomita and character designer Kenji Fujisaki, with music composed by Yoshihisa Hirano.

Following its premiere on NTV’s 'AnichU' block this past July, the series has been available for international viewers via Crunchyroll. While the manga concluded its original run in 2002, Viz Media has kept the title accessible to modern readers through its ongoing 3-in-1 omnibus releases, the latest of which arrived in July. With the second part now in motion, the narrative continues to follow Yuri’s displacement from modern Japan into the political intrigue of the ancient Hittite Empire.
