This release marks the inaugural project for Studio White, a collaborative venture formed by Kadokawa, LINE Digital Frontier, and REDICE STUDIO. The webtoon, which features writing by Southern Camel and illustrations by Blanton, launched internationally on July 31 across platforms including WEBTOON and ebookjapan.
While the original 1990s Record of Lodoss War OVA produced by Madhouse remains a cornerstone of the genre with its 7.33 score on MyAnimeList, this new webtoon offers a modern entry point into the franchise's deep lore. By detailing the events leading up to the main narrative, Queen of Death provides long-time followers and newcomers alike a look at the political and magical turmoil that defined the island's history long before the journey of Parn and Deedlit began.
