The upcoming anime film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend has unveiled striking new memorial visuals for fan-favorite characters Mai Sakurajima and Kaede Azusagawa. These visuals were revealed through dedicated videos released on April 19 and April 26, continuing a weekly rollout of heroine-focused artwork leading up to the film's release.

The film is positioned as the finale for the Rascal Does Not Dream anime series, adapting the 15th and final volume of Hajime Kamoshida's light novel. The franchise has been building anticipation by releasing a new visual each Sunday. The series, known for its supernatural drama and romance elements, has maintained a strong following, with the original novels boasting over 3 million copies in circulation.

Returning to animate the conclusion is CloverWorks, with Sōichi Masui directing and Masahiro Yokotani overseeing the script. The extensive returning cast includes Kaito Ishikawa as Sakuta Azusagawa and Asami Seto as Mai Sakurajima, alongside many others reprising their roles. The film is scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters on October 16.

This latest installment follows a series of successful adaptations, including the 2018 TV anime Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai, the 2019 film Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl, and two films released in 2023, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out and Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid. The recent TV anime Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, which adapted the "University Student Arc," also premiered in July 2024.
