The production team behind Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dear Friend has released the first four minutes of the upcoming film, offering a glimpse into the latest chapter of the long-running supernatural drama. The footage arrived alongside a new "finale visual," signaling that the movie—which shares its title with the 15th and final volume of Hajime Kamoshida’s light novel series—is positioning itself as the conclusion to the current narrative arc.

Returning to the helm is director Sōichi Masui, working once again with studio CloverWorks. The core creative team remains intact, featuring scriptwriter Masahiro Yokotani, character designer Satomi Tamura, and the band fox capture plan, who return to compose the film's score. The voice cast, led by Kaito Ishikawa as Sakuta Azusagawa and Asami Seto as Mai Sakurajima, is also confirmed to reprise their roles.

This film serves as a direct sequel to the 2025 television series Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus, which covered the "University Student Arc." While the franchise has seen a steady stream of adaptations since the 2018 debut of the original Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai series, this entry adapts the final novel volume. Fans attending screenings during the film's opening week in Japan will receive a bonus short story, Rascal Does Dream of a Tea Garden, written by Kamoshida and illustrated by series artist Keeji Mizoguchi.

With the film arriving in theaters on October 16, the focus now shifts to how the production will wrap up the complex supernatural threads established across the previous films and television seasons. Given the franchise's history of theatrical releases, viewers will be watching to see if this finale maintains the emotional resonance that has defined the series' transition from high school to college life.
