After years of being locked to original hardware and regional limitations, the beloved action JRPG Terranigma is making a comeback. Publisher Clear River Games confirmed that the title will arrive on modern platforms in 2027, marking the first time the game has seen a widespread release since its 1995 debut.

The new version will be available across a broad spectrum of hardware, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and GOG, as well as both the current Nintendo Switch and its successor. A promotional trailer released alongside the announcement highlights the game's enduring aesthetic, showcasing its distinct character designs and the sweeping, emotional narrative that defined its legacy.

Originally developed by Quintet, the game tells the story of Ark, a resident of the Darkside village of Crysta who inadvertently triggers a cataclysmic journey that spans the Lightside and Darkside of a hollow Earth. Despite its critical acclaim, the title famously missed a North American release in the 90s due to the closure of Enix’s local branch, leaving it as one of the most sought-after imports for retro collectors for decades.

This release aims to bridge that gap, bringing the game's blend of smooth action combat and thematic storytelling to a new generation. By finally clearing the hurdles that kept it from international shores, Clear River Games is positioning the title as a definitive way to experience one of the 16-bit era's most ambitious projects.
