The PuniRunes franchise is heading back to television this autumn, with the fourth season, PuniRunes Puni 4, officially scheduled to debut on October 4. The announcement arrived alongside a new main visual, revealing that the upcoming episodes will shift the focus to a classroom setting at the mysterious "Puni School."

Based on the popular Takara Tomy toyline, the series centers on the unique bond between the squishy, tactile creatures and Yuka, a fourth-grade student with a penchant for all things soft. The franchise has maintained a steady release cadence since its debut in October 2022, with subsequent seasons arriving in October 2024 and July 2025.

The production has historically featured heavy-hitting talent from the world of kids' animation, including chief director Kunihiko Yuyama, known for his extensive work on the Pokémon series, and character designer Sayuri Ichiishi. Gigaemon Ichikawa has been a cornerstone of the project, overseeing series scripts for the first three seasons.

While the series remains a staple on TV Tokyo and TV Osaka, it has seen expanded reach through international distribution. Spin Master, which handles the North American release of the physical toy line, began streaming the anime on YouTube in September 2024, allowing global viewers to follow the daily adventures of the PuniRunes creatures.
