The long-running four-panel manga Puchimas! -Petit Idolm@ster- is officially coming to a close. According to an announcement from the official X account of Kadokawa's Dengeki Maoh magazine, the series by creator Akane will publish its final chapter on December 25. The story, which began its serialization in 2008, will see its 16th and final compiled volume hit shelves in late February 2027.
For nearly two decades, the series has offered a whimsical take on the daily lives of the 765Pro idols, introducing mysterious, chibi-like creatures known as "Puchidoru" that mirror the personalities of the main cast. The manga's longevity is marked by its 15 previously released volumes, with the most recent arriving in December 2024.
Beyond its print run, the franchise saw significant multimedia expansion during its peak. Several compiled volumes included bundled anime DVDs, and the series inspired two seasons of net anime in 2013 and 2014. These adaptations were previously available to international audiences through Funimation, which handled both streaming and home video distribution for the spin-off.
With the manga concluding after such an extensive tenure, it marks the end of a significant chapter for the The IDOLM@STER franchise's spin-off history. While the manga is wrapping up, the core franchise remains active across various media, including ongoing game updates and live concert events.
