The production team for the Psyren television anime announced that the series' ending theme, titled "ICARUS," will be performed by the musical act Who-ya Extended. This reveal comes just ahead of the show's broadcast debut, which is scheduled for October 5 at 11:00 p.m. on Tokyo MX and BS11, with subsequent airings on Sun TV. International audiences will be able to follow the series via Crunchyroll.

Directed by Katsumi Ono at studio Satelight, the anime features a script overseen by Shin Yoshida and character designs by Akira Ōkuma. The series boasts a notable musical team, with composers Takashi Ōmama, Tatsuhiko Saiki, and Shū Kanematsu collaborating on the score. The opening theme, "Warning!!," will be performed by CLAN QUEEN. Ahead of the television premiere, the Global Stage Hollywood Film Festival will host a special screening of the first two episodes on October 3, with original manga creator Toshiaki Iwashiro scheduled to attend.

Based on the 16-volume manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2007 to 2010, the story follows high schooler Ageha Yoshina as he is pulled into a dangerous conspiracy involving a mysterious organization known as "Psyren." Unlike many adaptations that cover only a portion of their source material, the production has confirmed plans to adapt the entire story through its conclusion.

Why it matters: The commitment to a full adaptation is a significant undertaking for a series that concluded its print run over a decade ago. With the series set to hit streaming platforms shortly, it remains to be seen how the pacing will handle the transition from the manga's 16-volume arc to a television format.
