Toei Animation has announced a new television anime spinoff titled Dual Shadow Precure Villain Heroines, which is scheduled to premiere next year. According to the announcement, the project will feature an original story and characters, marking a departure from the format of previous spinoffs in the long-running Precure franchise. The franchise has a established history of exploring villain-to-hero character arcs, a tradition that began with the character Higashi Setsuna, or Eas, in 2009's Fresh Precure!. This upcoming project follows the 23rd main television entry, Star Detective Precure!, which debuted on February 1 and is currently ongoing. Recent franchise history includes the 20th anniversary projects The Power of Hope: Precure Full Bloom, which aired in October 2023, and Mahล Tsukai Precure!!: MIRAI DAYS, which debuted in January 2025.
