The official Monster Hunter social media accounts were seemingly taken over by Diana, the protagonist of the upcoming CAPCOM game Pragmata. Fans were greeted with a surprise on Wednesday as the accounts were rebranded to 'Diana Monster Hunter,' featuring new profile icons and banners depicting illustrations from Pragmata.
The takeover began with a post in binary code, which translated to 'Monster Hunter X account initiating hack!' accompanied by a video of Diana reciting the digits. This was followed by further posts from Diana, who expressed excitement about exploring the world of Monster Hunter, even mentioning finding a 'highly confidential' file labeled 'DeviljhoTail.mp4' within a Monster Hunter Stories 3 folder. Another post showed Diana and Pragmata character Hugh Williams encountering a monster, with Diana commenting on hunters' methods for dealing with large foes.
This coordinated social media stunt also extended to the Pragmata game's own official account, which Diana had 'hacked' a few days prior. The Pragmata account was similarly rebranded, with Diana introducing herself and expressing her eagerness to learn about Earth. The campaign has continued with hints that other CAPCOM franchises, such as Street Fighter, might be targeted next.
As of now, CAPCOM has not announced when control of the social media accounts will be fully restored. The ongoing 'hack' campaign is widely seen as a unique promotional strategy for the upcoming Pragmata title, blurring the lines between the game's narrative and real-world social media engagement.
