Toshiya Miyata, a member of the popular Japanese boy band Kis-My-Ft2, is set to join the voice cast of Pokémon Horizons. Miyata will portray the leader of the "Shining Oceans" Unite Battle idol team in the upcoming 141st episode, scheduled for June 19. This particular episode will draw inspiration from The Pokémon Company International and TiMi Studio Group's crossover game, Pokémon Unite, and Miyata's character will be partnered with a Sirfetch'd.
The series is currently in its "Wonder Voyage" arc, which began on May 22 and features visuals inspired by various Pokémon spinoff titles like Pokémon Go, Pokémon Unite, and Pokémon Sleep. This arc also introduces Navi, a new girl from Lumiose City, and her Ditto partner.
Recent episodes have seen the introduction of new theme songs. Minori Suzuki (Liko) and Yuka Terasaki (Roy), the show's protagonists, perform the new opening, "Sekai Tsunagare," produced by HoneyWorks. The new ending theme, "Cute na Kyūtai," is performed by CUTIE STREET.
Pokémon Horizons premiered in April 2023 and follows new protagonists Liko and Roy. The anime has since entered several new arcs, including "Terapagos no Kagayaki" (The Brilliance of Terapagos) in October 2023 and arcs featuring characters and locations from the Pokémon Scarlet and Violet games, such as Blueberry Academy and the Kitakami region. The series is directed by Saori Den with Dai Satō serving as series script supervisor. The anime is available internationally on Netflix, with its second season, The Search for Laqua, having premiered in February 2025.
