The supernatural comedy Phantom Busters is set to make the jump from the page to the screen in 2027. The announcement arrived via the series' official website, accompanied by a commemorative illustration from creator Shoco to celebrate the upcoming television adaptation.
Shoco first introduced the concept as a one-shot in Jump SQ.Rise in 2022 before moving to a full serialization in Jump SQ. in August 2023. The story follows a trio of club members—Mogari, Eugene, and Kaoru Kanzaki—as they attempt to recruit Koutarou Tamon, a classmate with the unique ability to communicate with ghosts, despite his crippling social anxiety around the living. The manga has seen steady growth, reaching over 1.4 million copies in circulation across print and digital formats.
For international readers, VIZ Media holds the English license for the series, having launched the first volume in October 2025. While the 2027 premiere window provides a long lead time for production, no specific studio or staff details have been confirmed at this stage. With the eighth volume of the manga slated for release this October, it remains to be seen how much of the source material the initial anime run will cover.
