Patlabor EZY anime project has released a new video highlighting the main characters of Special Vehicles Division 2 (SV2). The footage introduces the team that operates the iconic Ingram mechs in a future Japan.

The upcoming anime is slated for eight episodes, presented theatrically as three distinct films. The first two films, premiering May 15 and August 14, will cover the first six episodes in an omnibus format with standalone stories. The final film, arriving in March 2027, will contain the last two episodes and tell a connected two-part narrative.

Set in the 2030s, the story explores a Japan grappling with labor shortages and increased AI automation, where piloted mecha like Labors are becoming less common. Despite this, SV2's mission to combat Labor-related crimes continues, utilizing an upgraded version of their classic SV-98 Ingrams.

The cast includes Sumire Uesaka as Towa Kuga, Kikunosuke Toya as Kippei Atori, Ami Koshimizu as Saki Hirata, Chikahiro Kobayashi as Akihiko Hazama, Setsuji Satō as Yūta Yanai, Yume Matsumura as Hachikuma Yuzuki, and Megumi Hayashibara as Captain Kimika Saeki. Notably, Shigeru Chiba reprises his role as Shigeo Shiba, a character he has voiced for nearly 40 years.

Directed by Yutaka Izubuchi, known for his work on the original Patlabor franchise, the anime features a score by Kenji Kawai and character designs by Masami Yuuki. J.C. Staff handles animation production, with GAZEN on CG. Mori Calliope will perform the opening theme "Reimei Compass," and Mariko Nagai will sing the ending theme "Baton." Source: Anime News Network
