The official website for the Patlabor EZY anime project has unveiled the full trailer and a new key visual for "File 2," the second compilation film for the series. This installment will bring the anime's fourth to sixth episodes to theaters on August 14.
The Patlabor EZY anime is set in the 2030s, a future where Japan faces labor shortages and increased automation. Piloted mecha, known as Labors, have become commonplace, with autonomous robots increasingly taking over tasks once performed by them. The Special Vehicle Section 2 (SV-2) continues its mission to prevent Labor-related crimes, utilizing an upgraded version of their classic SV-98 Ingrams.
The film features a star-studded cast including Sumire Uesaka as Towa Kuga, Kikunosuke Toya as Kippei Atori, Ami Koshimizu as Saki Hirata, and Chikahiro Kobayashi as Akihiko Hazama. Megumi Hayashibara reprises her role as SV2 captain Kimika Saeki, and Shigeru Chiba returns as Shigeo Shiba, a role he has held since the original anime's debut.
Directed by Yutaka Izubuchi at J.C. Staff, the anime boasts a creative team deeply connected to the franchise. Kazunori Itō is writing the script, Masami Yuuki is handling character designs, and Kenji Kawai is composing the music. The series will consist of eight episodes released across three films, with "File 1" and "File 2" covering the first six episodes, and "File 3" set for a March 2027 release.
Mori Calliope is performing the opening theme song "Reimei Compass" (Daybreak Compass), while Mariko Nagai provides the ending theme "Baton." The updated AV-98Plus Ingram mechs feature enhanced frames, capabilities, and software, including augmented reality projection via pilot helmets.
