The upcoming anime adaptation of Keiko Shibata's beloved Pan Dorobō (Bread Thief) picture books has received a significant update. A new promotional video and visual released by Kadokawa confirm additional cast members and key production staff, while also offering a first listen to the series' opening theme, "Pan Dorobō no Uta," performed by voice actors Ayaka Asai and Junichi Suwabe.

Joining the lead cast, which features Asai in the titular role, are Aki Toyosaki as Nise Pan Dorobō and Junichi Suwabe as Panya no Ojisan. The production team has also expanded to include lead animators from Wit Studio, such as Shingo Takenaka and Yuka Hara, alongside background art director Chieko Nakamura. These new additions will support a core creative team led by director Takahiko Kyōgoku, known for his work on the Love Live! franchise, and assistant director Chie Yamashiro.

Since its debut in 2020, the Pan Dorobō series has become a massive success, boasting over 4.5 million copies in circulation and securing the 11th LIBRO Picture Book Prize. The anime adaptation, which features character designs by Mako Miyako and scripts by Mariko Mochizuki, is set to bring the whimsical story of a bread-stealing bread thief to television screens this October. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu is confirmed to perform the ending theme song, titled "Pan Dorobō."
