The Pan Dorobō (Bread Thief) anime project has expanded its cast list ahead of its October 2 premiere. The latest promotional video highlights the addition of Atsumi Tanezaki, who will voice the character Nazo no France Pan (Mysterious French Bread), and Kana Hanazawa, who is set to serve as the series narrator. The trailer also provides a first listen to the ending theme song, 'Pang Pang Pang,' performed by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu.

These new additions join a previously announced lineup that features Ayaka Asai as the titular bread-stealing protagonist, Aki Toyosaki as Nise Pan Dorobō, and Junichi Suwabe as Panya no Ojisan. The production is helmed by director Takahiko Kyōgoku at Shinei Animation, with series scripts penned by Mariko Mochizuki and character designs by Mako Miyako.

Based on Keiko Shibata’s award-winning picture book series, the story follows a mischievous piece of bread with a penchant for shoplifting from local bakeries. Since its debut in 2020, the franchise has grown significantly, reaching 4.5 million copies in circulation and securing the 11th LIBRO Picture Book Prize. With the premiere date now confirmed, the transition from picture book to screen marks a major milestone for the series, which has seen consistent growth in its source material releases through late 2025.
