Manga artist Kazu Kakazu is returning to the spotlight with a brand-new series titled Yosuga Tagurite. Announced in the 45th issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, the project is set to debut on October 9 via Shueisha’s vertical-scrolling platform, Jump Toon.

The story follows Yosuga, a boy born of both human and yokai heritage who faces social ostracization due to his monstrous nature. His path takes an unexpected turn after crossing paths with Shiki, a young man who shares his distinctive golden eyes. The premise suggests a shift toward the supernatural themes that characterized Kakazu's previous work.

Kakazu is perhaps best known for Our Blood Oath, which ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2020 to 2021. That series, which spanned two compiled volumes, was previously available to international readers through Viz Media’s Shonen Jump service and MANGA Plus. Before that, the creator gained attention for the 2019 one-shot "Seiyaku no Aka."

Why it matters: The move to Jump Toon marks a transition from traditional print serialization to a digital-first, vertical-scrolling format. It remains to be seen if this shift in medium will influence the pacing or panel layout compared to Kakazu's earlier print-based projects.
