Following the success of Orb: On the Movements of the Earth and the recent anime film adaptation of 100 Meters, creator Uoto has announced two upcoming manga projects. The author shared the news via social media, confirming a return to both Shogakukan and Kodansha publications.
Uoto will helm the new series Hallucination Meat, which is set to debut in Shogakukan’s Weekly Big Comic Spirits. While an exact premiere date remains unconfirmed, the author anticipates a launch before the end of 2026. Simultaneously, Uoto is collaborating with artist Kyō Yoneshiro on a project titled Test Taker/Cheaters. This series will be serialized in Kodansha’s Monthly Afternoon, with a tentative release window targeted for early 2027.
These announcements follow a prolific period for the creator, whose work has seen significant critical and commercial attention. Orb earned Uoto the Grand Prize at the 26th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize, and its 25-episode anime adaptation recently saw a wide release on Netflix. Meanwhile, Yoneshiro brings their own experience to the partnership, having previously worked on titles like Ageku no Hate Kanon.
With two distinct projects moving into production at different publishers, it remains to be seen how Uoto will balance the tonal differences between these new works. Given the thematic depth of their previous titles, which often explore historical and philosophical stakes, readers will be watching to see if these new series lean into similar territory.
