Following the New York Knicks' victory in the 2026 NBA Championship, Bandai's Tamashii Nations has announced a special S.H.Figuarts figure of One Piece protagonist Monkey D. Luffy, dressed in the team's iconic colors. This release is part of an ongoing collaboration between the popular anime and the National Basketball Association.
The figure, priced at 9,900 yen (approximately $62 USD), was slated to ship in October. However, pre-orders for this specific Knicks version, along with other NBA team variants including the Los Angeles Lakers, Golden State Warriors, Chicago Bulls, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Boston Celtics, launched on April 3 and concluded on April 26. Notably, the San Antonio Spurs, the Knicks' Finals opponent, were not included in the figure lineup.
This collectible builds upon the One Piece x NBA partnership, which began with an animated short in February 2025 featuring the Straw Hat Pirates in Lakers uniforms. A broader collection of static, non-poseable One Piece x NBA figures was also revealed in November 2025, contrasting with the poseable nature of the new S.H.Figuarts release.
The New York Knicks secured their first NBA title in 53 years, defeating the Spurs in a five-game series. The championship win marked a significant moment for the team and its fans, coinciding with this unique merchandise announcement.
