Bandai Namco Entertainment is expanding the reach of Once Upon a Katamari with a newly announced version for the Nintendo Switch 2. Arriving October 8, the port promises a refined experience for the platform, boasting improved frame rates, updated visuals, and the addition of mouse-based controls for precision rolling.
Players already owning the title on the original Switch won't be left behind, as a free update will deploy on the same day to bring these performance and control enhancements to the hardware when played via backward compatibility on the Switch 2. This update ensures that the core experience remains consistent across generations while utilizing the newer console's capabilities.
Accompanying the hardware news is the "Rolling LIVE Highlights" DLC, also dropping on October 8. This content pack significantly bolsters the game's offerings by introducing 10 new quests, 12 fresh tracks, 18 accessories, and six additional cousins. The expansion builds on the game's established loop, which tasks players with assisting The Prince in restoring the cosmos through time travel.
Since its original release last October across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Switch, the game has maintained the series' signature charm while introducing the competitive "KatamariBall" mode. With support for both online and offline play, the title continues the legacy of the franchise that first captured audiences on the PlayStation 2 two decades ago.
