OceanVeil has announced that it will provide a simulcast stream for the upcoming anime adaptation of My Girlfriend's Friend (Kanojo no Tomodachi). The series is scheduled to begin its broadcast run on October 4, with the streaming debut following shortly thereafter. The story centers on Takeru Hidaka, a high schooler whose relationship with his girlfriend, Kaori, is complicated by the sudden, magnetic presence of her best friend, Tomoko.

The production is helmed by director Takashi Andō at studio Quad, with scripts supervised by Gokō Shiraki. The voice cast features Ryūga Nagaike as the protagonist Takeru, alongside Sayaka Hashi as Kaori and Miki Hase as the enigmatic Tomoko. The musical landscape of the series includes the opening theme "Gingira" by Airots and the ending theme "False Love" by Ceui.

In addition to the standard broadcast version, a "Complete Deregula" edition of the anime will be available on AnimeFesta starting October 5. The project is produced by WWWave Corporation under their Deregula label, which has been active in adapting niche manga titles for the screen. The original source material by Jura has been running in Kodansha's YanMaga Web since 2021, with seven volumes currently in print.

Why it matters: The involvement of the Deregula label suggests a specific production style often seen in their previous short-form or mature-leaning adaptations, though the exact episode count remains unconfirmed. With the simulcast confirmed, viewers can expect the series to be accessible globally alongside its Japanese television debut on Tokyo MX and BS11.
