The zombie-survival manga Salaryman Z has concluded its run, with its final chapter published on May 22, 2026. The series, credited to NUMBER 8 for the story and Ten Ishida for the art, debuted in Kodansha's Morning magazine in August 2023.
Salaryman Z centers on 40-year-old salaryman Yūsaka Maeyamada, who finds his old-fashioned business principles put to the ultimate test when a mysterious virus sparks a zombie pandemic. His attempts to survive the outbreak are framed through the lens of his idolization of past industrialists and businessmen.
The manga's sixth compiled volume was released on February 20. NUMBER 8 is also known for his editorial work on Shinichi Ishizuka's Blue Giant manga and penned the screenplay for its anime film adaptation. He also served as story director for the Blue Giant Supreme manga. His previous manga collaboration with artist Ryōhei Masuko, Strand, concluded in October 2025.
