The production team for the Now That We Draw (Kakunaru Ue wa) anime adaptation has released its first full promotional video, offering a deeper look at the series ahead of its January 2027 premiere. The trailer highlights the central dynamic between Yūki Uehara and Niina Miyamoto, two aspiring manga artists who enter a fake relationship to better understand the romance they hope to depict in their work.
Alongside the trailer, the production confirmed several key staff additions. Joining the team are Momoka Izumi as sub-character designer, Arei Saiga as art director, and Yoshiaki Miura, who is composing the series' music. These new members join a core creative team led by director Shunsuke Ishikawa, known for his work on BLUE LOCK THE MOVIE -EPISODE NAGI-, and script supervisor Deko Akao, whose previous credits include Komi Can't Communicate.
Based on the manga by Kyū Takahata and Yūji Kaba, the series follows a high schooler whose attempt to write a perfect romantic comedy is upended by his own lack of experience. While the manga currently spans eight volumes in Japan, Seven Seas Entertainment has been steadily releasing the English version, with the fourth volume arriving earlier this year. With the January 2027 window now locked in, the production moves into its final phase of development under the oversight of Infinite.
