The North American home video market sees a significant influx of classic animation this week, headlined by a comprehensive wave of Studio Ghibli Steelbook releases. Shout! Studios has issued 15 titles from the legendary studio, including staples like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and My Neighbor Totoro, all arriving in premium BD/DVD combo packs. For those looking for more contemporary series, Sentai Filmworks has also released the Revue Starlight: Curtain Call Collection on Blu-ray.
Print manga readers have a packed schedule with over 30 new volumes hitting shelves. Seven Seas Entertainment is particularly active, debuting several new series such as Are You a Landmine, Chihara-san? and Can You Kiss Me First?, while also continuing long-running favorites like The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again Today and The Legend of Dororo and Hyakkimaru. Other notable print arrivals include the third omnibus of the classic thriller Dragon Head from Vertical and the eighth volume of Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken! via Dark Horse.
Digital platforms are seeing a similar volume of activity, with simultaneous releases for many of the week's print titles. J-Novel Club has added to the digital slate with new volumes for A Livid Lady's Guide to Getting Even and Rebuild World. With such a high density of new releases, collectors may want to prioritize which series take precedence on their shelves this month.
