The social-comedy manga Akarui Mirai is approaching its conclusion. Houbunsha’s Manga Time Kirara Forward magazine announced via social media that the series will publish its final chapter in the upcoming issue, slated for release on October 23.

Launched in August 2025, the story follows Mirai, a protagonist struggling with social interaction who receives an unexpected ultimatum from a foul-mouthed AI from the future. The AI warns her that she is destined to die alone unless she drastically changes her habits, setting off a quest for friendship that has defined the series' run. Houbunsha most recently released the second compiled volume on July 10.

Writer Norimitsu Kaihō is a familiar name to many in the industry, having penned the original School-Live! manga and its subsequent sequel, Gakkō Gurashi! Otayori. Beyond his work in Manga Time Kirara Forward, Kaihō has an extensive portfolio in anime screenwriting, including credits on Danganronpa 3, Akudama Drive, and the recent Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers.

Why it matters: With the conclusion of this title, Kaihō shifts focus away from his recent collaboration with Kurageso, though his long-standing history with the magazine suggests he may already be looking toward future projects. It remains to be seen if the series will receive a final collected volume release following the October finale.
