The creative team behind the upcoming Bless anime has confirmed that voice actor Nobuhiko Okamoto will join the project. He is set to portray the character Ginga Yoyogi in the series, which is currently slated for a January 2027 premiere on Fuji TV’s Noitamina block. Okamoto joins lead voice actors Tomohiro Ōno and Chiyuki Miura, who play Aia Udagawa and Jun Sumisaki, respectively.
Production is underway at A-1 Pictures, with Shōtarō Kitamura directing the adaptation. The staff list is extensive, featuring assistant director Takayuki Kikuchi and series composition by Fukurou Kamiza. The visual department is led by character designer and chief animation director Honoka Yokoyama, supported by chief animation directors Tetsuya Kawakami and Reina Iwasaki. Ryō Yoshimata is handling the musical score for the production.
Yukino Sonoyama’s original manga, which explores themes of self-definition and beauty standards within the fashion industry, has reached a milestone of 1.25 million copies in circulation. The series, currently serialized in Monthly Shonen Sirius, is also receiving a live-action adaptation that will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime Video in spring 2027. With both the anime and live-action projects approaching, the franchise is set for a busy start to the year.
Given that the anime and the live-action series are scheduled for release within months of each other, it will be interesting to see how the two productions differentiate their visual interpretations of the fashion world. Does the addition of a veteran like Okamoto to the voice cast suggest a particular focus on the series' supporting character dynamics?
