The upcoming television anime adaptation of Nisemono no Renkinjutsushi (The Fake Alchemist) has unveiled its primary production team and lead voice cast. The announcement, accompanied by a teaser promotional video, confirms that Youhei Matsuoka will voice the protagonist Paracelsus, while Miyari Nemoto will portray Nora Petan.
Production is being handled by studio Passione under the guidance of chief director Takeo Takahashi, known for his work on the recent Spice and Wolf reboot. The creative team also includes director Hijiri Sanpei, series composer Kenta Ihara, and character designer Yuka Takashina. The series' musical score is being composed by Luke Standridge.
Originally launched by Jirou Sugiura and Umemaru on pixiv in 2020, the fantasy isekai manga gained enough traction to earn a 12th-place finish in the 2022 Next Manga Awards. Kadokawa currently serializes the title, and Yen Press manages the English-language release, which has seen steady volume output since its licensing in 2025.
Why it matters: With a seasoned team from Passione and a director experienced in high-profile fantasy adaptations, the project is positioning itself as a notable entry in the genre. It remains to be seen how the studio will balance the series' web-manga roots with the demands of a full television broadcast.
