NIS America has confirmed plans to bring GOBBLE, the latest side-scrolling action title from Nippon Ichi Software, to Western audiences in 2027. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam. This announcement follows the reveal of a trailer showcasing the game's distinct hand-painted 2D aesthetic and fast-paced combat mechanics.
The story follows a protagonist named Root, who embarks on a perilous journey to rescue his missing family in a world overrun by monsters. To survive, Root utilizes a unique weapon: a demonic bird named Scythariel that transforms into a scythe capable of devouring foes. Players will navigate a landscape terrorized by a malevolent Demon King, with gameplay emphasizing exploration and the collection of various items.
While Western players will have to wait until 2027 to get their hands on the title, Japanese audiences can expect the game to hit shelves on September 24. The release marks another entry in Nippon Ichi Softwareβs long-standing tradition of experimental 2D platformers.
