Behaviour Interactive has officially brought the world of NieR:Automata into the asymmetrical horror landscape of Dead by Daylight. The collaboration introduces a series of "Legendary Outfits" that allow players to customize their characters with iconic designs from the Square Enix action RPG. Survivors Feng Min and Yui Kimura receive 2B and A2 costumes, respectively, while the killer known as The Legion gains a "Very Rare" outfit modeled after the series' fan-favorite character, Emil.

This update continues a long-standing trend of anime and manga-inspired content within the game. Dead by Daylight has previously integrated aesthetics from Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul, and the works of Junji Ito. These cosmetic drops are a staple of the title's live-service model, which frequently pulls from horror and pop-culture icons ranging from Silent Hill to Halloween.

For those following the franchise's recent media footprint, the NieR:Automata universe remains active following the conclusion of its two-cour anime adaptation, NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a, which wrapped its second cour in 2024. While the anime is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll, this new crossover marks the latest instance of the IP expanding its reach into multiplayer gaming spaces. Given the game's history of high-profile collaborations, it remains to be seen if additional characters from the YoRHa squad will make their way into The Fog in future updates.
