Mixi has unveiled the latest entry in the Monster Strike franchise, a television anime titled Monster Strike: Mera×Death: Shinigami to Boku no Ijou na Koi. The series is slated to begin its broadcast run on January 5, 2027, with Tokyo MX confirmed as a primary station. Accompanying the announcement, the production team released a key visual and a promotional video that introduces the series' central mystery.

The project is a collaborative production between studios Qzil.la and Studio Keel, with Arch serving as the producer. Kenta Kushiya, who previously served as an episode director for Kaijuu No. 8, will lead the production as director. The creative team also includes Daisuke Oohigashi on series composition and screenplay, with character designs provided by Tadashi Sakazaki. The musical score is being handled by a team of composers including Masaru Yokoyama, Kana Hashiguchi, and Natsuki Hamada.

The story centers on Mera Kagari, a teenager living in the town of Ouma, a city defined by a mysterious floating sphere known as the "Glass Sun." On his 16th birthday, Mera meets a girl named Thirteen, an encounter that brings color to his mundane life but also triggers a series of unexplained events throughout the city.

This new series continues a long-running multimedia history for the franchise, which began with its 2013 mobile game release and has since spawned multiple anime seasons and feature films, including the 2020 movie Lucifer - Zetsubou no Yoake. With the series moving to a standard television slot, it remains to be seen how this narrative will integrate with the established lore of the previous web-based installments.
