The latest Ghost in the Shell television project has expanded its ensemble cast, confirming that voice actresses Aya Hisakawa and Nina Kumagaya have joined the production. Hisakawa, known for her recent work in Dragon Ball Daima, will voice the character Annapuna, while Kumagaya, recognized for her role in Yowamushi Pedal, takes on the role of Unipuma. The series, which recently debuted on Kansai TV and Fuji TV affiliates, brings a fresh perspective to the iconic cyberpunk franchise.

Production is currently underway at Science SARU under the direction of Moko-chan, who previously served as an assistant director on Dandadan. The creative team is rounded out by series composer and screenwriter Toh EnJoe, character designer Shuuhei Handa, and a musical trio consisting of Taisei Iwasaki, Ryo Konishi, and Yuki Kanesaka.

This new entry arrives as the franchise continues to evolve long after the original 2002 Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex series set a high bar for the genre. With that seminal work holding an 8.42 rating on MyAnimeList and securing an Excellence Award at the 6th Japan Media Arts Festival, the legacy of the series is immense. While the franchise has seen various iterations—from the SAC_2045 3DCG series to the Arise spin-offs—this project reflects a shift in creative direction under the Science SARU banner.
