The production team for the new The Ghost in the Shell television anime has confirmed that voice actor Atsushi Miyauchi will portray the tactical specialist Borma. This reveal arrives as the series, produced by Science SARU, continues its broadcast run on the "Ka-Anival!!" programming block on Kansai TV and Fuji TV.
To celebrate the show's ongoing rollout, the official website also unveiled a new end card for the second episode, featuring artwork by Ilya Kuvshinov, known for his character designs on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. The series, which premiered globally on Amazon Prime Video on July 7, is currently available in over 240 countries and regions.
This project represents a significant shift for the franchise, marking a directorial debut for Mokochan, who previously contributed key animation to titles like DAN DA DAN. The production brings together a high-profile creative team, including writer Toh Enjoe and character designer Shūhei Handa. While the franchise is long-celebrated for its deep roots in psychological sci-fi—most notably the 2015 feature film which holds a 7.43 on MyAnimeList—this new iteration aims to introduce the complex world of Section 9 to a fresh generation of viewers.
The series features a star-studded Japanese cast, including Maaya Sakamoto as Motoko Kusanagi, Hiroki Yasumoto as Batou, and Yūichi Nakamura as Togusa. The production committee, a collaboration between Bandai Namco Filmworks, Kodansha, Science SARU, and long-time franchise stewards Production I.G, has also leaned into a modern soundscape, utilizing an opening theme by King Gnu and an ending theme from MILLENNIUM PARADE.
