The production team behind Ahare! Meisaku-kun has confirmed that the comedy series will return with new episodes in January 2027. Until the new content arrives, the broadcast schedule will consist of re-runs of earlier episodes to keep the series in the public eye.

Returning to lead the production are director Taketo Shinkai and character designer Jun Oson, with animation duties once again handled by studio Pie in the sky. The series, which follows the ordinary student Matsuda Meisaku as he navigates a school filled with eccentric classmates, has maintained a consistent presence on Japanese television since its 2016 debut.

While the show has seen various distribution models over the years—including a successful 2022 crowdfunding campaign that raised nearly 20 million yen—its reach has expanded significantly through platforms like AnimeLog and Crunchyroll. The series' longevity is notable, having transitioned from a segment within NHK’s Beat World variety show into a standalone franchise that has even spawned its own exclusive exhibition in Tokyo.

Why it matters: The commitment to a January return suggests the production remains on a stable schedule, though it remains to be seen if this new batch of episodes will follow the five-minute short format that has defined the franchise's history.
