The fantasy series Neko to Ryuu (The Cat and the Dragon) is officially set to continue. Following the broadcast of its 12th and final episode this past Saturday, the production committee confirmed that a second season is currently in development, with a premiere window scheduled for 2027. To mark the announcement, series director Jin-koo Oh shared a commemorative illustration.

The first season, produced by studio OLM, debuted on July 4 and was available to international audiences via Crunchyroll’s simulcast service. The anime adapts the light novel series written by Amara and illustrated by Mai Okuma, which has reached a milestone of 1.4 million copies in circulation as of its tenth volume release this past August.

While the anime’s narrative is based on the original light novels, the franchise also includes a long-running manga adaptation by Izumi Sasaki, which has been serializing since 2017 and recently published its 13th volume. With the 2027 return date confirmed, the long gap between seasons suggests a significant production timeline for the next arc. Given the series' roots as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou, it remains to be seen how much of the source material the upcoming season will cover.
